You know that Lindt advert with the chocolatier, twirling a spiral whisk through smooth melted chocolate?
Well it turns out you can't buy spiral whisks anywhere, so I made one!
I turned the handle from mahogany and the spiral 'balloon' is made from an old whisk which I dismantled and bent into a spiral shape using a jig I improvised.
Update - Jan 2015
Since first posting this a few years ago I have received many requests from all over the world for such a whisk, it seems there is a global gap in the market for spiral balloon whisks if there are any budding entrepreneurs reading this!
I have had to turn down most of these requests due to time pressures however I'm pleased to say I found the time to make at least one which actually turned out better than the original.
As with the original, I turned the mahogany handle on my lathe but the shape is much more pleasing. Also, this was my first venture into engraving and I'm quite pleased with the results!
